Campanelli Recieves Week #6 WVIAC Cross Country Honors

Women's Runner of the Week:

---Sarah Campanelli, Wheeling Jesuit, Soph., Gahanna, OH: Campanelli placed fourth out of 204 runners in the Blue Division race at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic...The WJU sophomore helped her squad to a third place team finish after completing the 5K course at Tom Sawyer State Park in 18:56, the second fastest time at the distance in the conference during the 2008 season.

2008 winners: 9/2-Anna Cote (SHU), 9/9-Anna Cote (SHU), 9/16-Chelsea Hanne (A-B), 9/23-Anna Cote (SHU), 9/30-Amanda Blankenship (CU), 10/7-Sarah Campanelli (WJU).

WVIAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week (9/1-7):

Nik Balzer, Wheeling Jesuit, Soph., F, Pittsburgh, PA                 Mike Oliver, Seton Hill, Jr., F, Wellsburg, WV:
Balzer founded the back of the net on all three of his shots during a 7-0 win against Ohio Valley on Wednesday...Oliver scored three times during a pair of Seton Hill victories...He netted the game-winner versus cross-town rival St. Vincent and added a pair of scores versus in-region foe Lock Haven.

Other nominees: Ohio Valley's Jordan Valentine (goal, assist in 3-3 tie with Slippery Rock), West Virginia Wesleyan's Kurt Donaldson (two goals in win over Concord),

2008 winners: 9/1-James Kpainay (D&E)/Jason Swope (UPJ); 9/8-Nik Balzer (WJU)/Mike Oliver (SHU).

CARDINALS WIN THREE THIS WEEKEND

The Cardinals performance in Friday evening's match against La Roche was nearly flawless, winning in three staight games (25-8, 25-18, 25-14).  The Cardinals performed equally as well on Saturday, where they hosted Urbana University and Lake Erie College, winning both matches in three games.
